1-6 At City Hall

Jessica. As freshman at Temple University, she has only been living in Philadelphia since the end of August. She is making her way through City Hall today on her way back from a day of shopping and eating at the Olive Garden. Her favorite thing about the city is shopping. “I love shopping. I’m always down here,” she says.

Lauren. Also a freshman at Temple, she has been living in the city less than a year. She grew up in Pottstown, Pennsylvania with her friend Jessica. She agrees that shopping is her favorite, but says, “the city is kind of trashy sometimes. That’s my least favorite thing.”

Raymond. Raymond was born in Philadelphia and has lived here all his life. He is walking through city hall on his way home. He says, “I’ve been traveling through the city. I’m just chilling on a Sunday.” When asked about his favorite thing, he says, “I love it! I was born and raised here. You’re in the middle of everything.” His least favorite thing is, “retirement. I’m in the shelter system right now.

Patrick. A resident of the Valley Forge area, Patrick is visiting for a day of skating. His favorite thing is, “the diversity, and all that stuff.” He says, “My least favorite thing is the security. We see it all the time. It’s not fun at all.”

Chris. A lifetime resident of the city, Chris is just walking around. He cannot think of his favorite thing at first, but settles on Center City. “All of the violence and everything is my least favorite,” he says.

Danielle. She has lived in Philadelphia all of her life, and is just passing through city hall while walking to McDonald’s. She says, “I don’t really have a favorite thing about the city. It’s my home, but my least favorite thing is how dirty it can be.”
